Abstract:
The critical mass in nuclear fission is predicted by the liquid drop model. This talk is devoted to a mathematical treatment of the corresponding variational problem. In particular, I will discuss joint results with Rupert Frank and Rowan Killip on the existence and non-existence of minimizers. Quantum economics is an emerging approach in economic research that employs ideas and mathematical tools inspired by quantum mechanics to model economic behavior, financial transactions, and market dynamics. This approach introduces concepts such as state superposition, context dependence, and entanglement to provide a newframework for analyzing complex economic systems. This presentation introduces the concept of quantum economics as a new approach to modern economic modelling. Similar to how quantum physics extended classical physics to explain microscopic phenomena, quantum economics can be viewed as a complementary theoretical framework to neoclassical economics, offering new ways to describe uncertainty, interdependence among economic agents, and the complex dynamics of contemporary economic systems.
About presenter:
Dr. Tran Thi Tuan Anh graduated from the University of Economics Ho Chi Minh City (UEH) and has been affiliated with the university since 2002. Her core research fields include applied econometrics, quantitative analysis, and mathematical economics. Alongside her applied econometric research, she has published extensively on financial entropy and time-series spectral analysis, with her most recent work delving into quantum economics.
